Something we start our small groups with at youth group is highs, lows, and buffalos. This is used to share about something good that happened in the past week, something bad, and something we are looking forward to in the near future — this model gives us the opportunity to hear a little bit about each students’ life and to see where we can be meeting them in celebration and in sorrow. I thought this could be a fun way to provide an update on my blog and also to share a little bit of what life has looked like in the past few months.

Let’s start with some highs! I graduated from college and got moved in back home! I have had the opportunity to get back into some hobbies, such as going to the barn and getting back into riding and jumping horses. I’ve been able to continue country swing dancing and leading worship at Boulder Mountain Community Church. Another high is the Lord has been super faithful in the fundraising process. I am almost 50% funded and it just shows how faithful the Lord is and how He is unlimited in His resources.

Moving onto lows. As I am preparing for this mission trip, I have begun doing work on my heart and intentionally checking it’s condition. I have noticed that I have been carrying some weight in my heart for a while now. As glad as I am to be done with school, I dearly miss my friends and the life that I had built on campus. So much has changed so abruptly and it feels very odd to be back in my old room, not returning to campus in the fall. As I am working on getting adjusted to being home, my family has been wonderful and a blessing to me as I have been working through this transition. The biggest challenge has been to grasp exactly what my life looks like as no longer a “college student”. Through this the Lord has been working with me and gently revealing who I am called to be in this season. He has been reminding me of the beauty in my brokenness and that He continues to have purpose for me in this season. My work is definitely not finished in this area, but I trust that the Lord will continue to meet me here — if I just let Him.

As for BUFFALOS! I am so excited for our youth church camp! I cannot WAIT to see how the Lord is going to move in the students that attend our camp. I also have begun the process of recording a song that I wrote back in the fall. It is so cool to walk through this process of turning a song I wrote in my bedroom into a song for other people to hear! I am also obviously looking forward the World Race, that’s kind of a no brainer for me haha

To wrap all of this up, I want to say thank you to those who have partnered with me in support thus far. I am also thankful for those who have been praying for me as I am preparing for this mission trip. If you want to join in supporting me, please reach out to set up some time for me to tell you all of the details, or check out my donation page here: https://adventuresinmissions.servicereef.com/events/adventures-in-missions-3/august-2023-world-race-11-months/participants/emmarenee22!
